Marie Antoinette Period Fancy Dress Costume

“Let them eat cake!!” Marie Antoinette, Queen of France was known for her lavish style and dazzling splendour during her pursuit of pleasure in everything she wore. Her reputation for dominating ladies fashion during her reign 1755-1793 led to her being known as the Queen of Fashion rather than the Queen of France. This costume is the epitome of Marie Antoinette’s extravagance as it is created in superb silver and white Jacquard, trimmed with metallic lace and hand pleated silver satin. The close fitting basque jacket with a low décolletage features a pointed front and lacing to close while the rear has a longer back falling over the fullness of the underskirt in double pleats.

The stunning Marie Antoinette jacket with additional tabs, sits atop a silver satin full circle skirt with a matching Jacquard panel to the centre and silver box pleat trim which is finished with silver braid. Bows adorn this gorgeous costume and are discreetly placed on the sleeves and skirt with a matching bow on a silver pleated choker. A white layered lace net petticoat completes the fancy dress costume and compliments the white lace trimmed cotton sleeves.
